This work is inspired by the patterns that appear in the diagrams that are created to describe the human genome sequence. I find the repetitive shapes to be very pleasing, I might even go so far as to say melodic. I thought it would be an interesting contrast to transform something that is normally computer generated, into a handmade object, using very simple media like burlap, thread, and pencil.

Biography Born, November 3rd 1963 in Evanston, IL. Moved to Wisconsin in 1965 and continue to call that home. I’m constantly amazed by the connections I find across a multitude of disciplines. I’m interested in the concept of creativity in all its manifestations, in how people create in many different disciplines, and in their daily lives. I’ve been sustained by the languages of art. This interest with interdisciplinary studies has probably also guided my choice of medium and process. I have gravitated toward wood construction, assemblage, collage and layering. These methods allow me to combine, overlap, and juxtapose a multitude of interests.
