ABOUT THE ARTWORK
My father worked on a classified program to protect the US should we be attacked from the air. The air of secrecy in the house led to a deep curiosity about the arms race and its links to oil. We are exposed to so much talk of conflict in this world that it becomes background noise. That idea sparked this work. Seen from across the room, it appears to be a appealing pattern and texture. Only when you get closer do you see the details - oil cans and missiles and some tiny drones. This is a 3D sculptural work mounted on a 1 1/2 inch wood frame that is meant to be hung on the wall.
