About The Artwork
To create this artwork I used a photograph from the 1940s, a young girl with her beloved dog and made it into a paper collage on wood. The work is ready to hang. The photograph is a photocopy. I also used silk paper, ink, acrylic, watercolour sticks and graphite to finish this work. This collage is sealed by a silky varnish (Schmincke). The sides of the wood are integrated in the work and it is signed on the back. 20 x 30 x 3 cm / 7.9 x 11.8 x 1.2 in

ARTIST STATEMENT: Life is a largely subjective experience; but that subjective experience is my bridge to the objective world. And it’s this synthesis of the two that I am trying to capture. INSPIRATION AND PROCESS: I love experimenting and want to give my works an individual expression. I have two lines of work: I love painting almost (but not quite) realistic, somewhat utopian, nature images and on the other hand I really enjoy doing non-objective/abstract art. I am inspired by the beauty and power of natural phenomena, the mystery of nature, its colors and forms. Every painting is a one-of-a-kind work in which I try to combine feeling and thought. I work most of the time with acrylics but I also mix acrylics with other media such as oil pastel, soft pastel, spray paint, graphite and charcoal or ink. All materials I use, if canvas, paper or paints are of artist quality.
