About The Artwork

Coming up with the idea to cut hearts by hand out of hand painted paper and pinning it to a board hit me in early 2015. Since then these pinned hearts have become a signature style for me. Heart of Gold is so vibrant under the lights the way the gold reflects and is a perfect gift for anyone you know who truly does have a "heart of gold". I designed custom frames for each of my pinned pieces and they can be viewed from three sides. The entomology pins hold the painted paper hearts in place very firmly.

Polly Gentry is a Kansas abstract multi media artist. Her artistic process began as a child in Omaha, NE with a well known architect father, Stanley J. How. His vision and gift to create amazing buildings gave Polly a good foundation about design. Her mother taught her to knit, sew, and needlepoint which was therapeutic for Polly. She grew up in a home with a wonderful art collection which she would spend hours studying the intricate works Picasso, Miro, and more. Her art is characterized by vibrant colors, contrasting shapes, and whimsical compositions. She has exhibited her art work in group exhibitions including the Alpine Arts Center, in, Edwards, CO, and at the Wichita Center for the Arts in which she won the William Dickerson Honorary Award of Merit in “painting”. Polly's art work is in many private residences throughout the U.S. and is in several public collections including the Stratford Commons in Kansas City. A large installation of 7 pieces will be hung at the new KU School of Business this Spring. She studies at the Wichita Center for the Arts. She is currently a member of the Board of Trustees at the Wichita Center for the Arts and Chairman of Special Events. "My artwork is simply paint that pours from my soul".
