The colorful designs of the trees are created with collaged litter and recycled junk mail, as a gentle reminder that if we do not stop trashing the planet, trees will not grow from our garbage in the future. Scraps from Klein's husbands wood shop add beautiful woodgrain and texture. The overall result is an aesthetically alluring composition with a hidden message about protecting our forests. Klein has developed her own unique process for adhering high quality watercolor paper purchased in large rolls onto wood panels. The entire piece is finished with two coats of archival satin varnish, creating a contemporary but natural look. The edges are painted a dark charcoal hue. No framing required.
