Lesya Demchenko was born in Kiev (Ukraine) 1974. She finished state art school in Kiev. She studied at academy of fine arts in Perugia (İtaly). From 1998 leaves in Turkey. She opened 14 personal exhibitions in Turkey, and 2 in Germany, 2 in Ukraine In 2022, she graduated from the Department of Graphic Design at Kirklareli University in Turkey and the Department of Public Relations at Anadolu University in Turkey. She takes part in different group exhibitions, festivals, art gatherings, in Turkey and abroad, holds many workshops and master classes. She is appreciated by many critics, gallerists, collectors. The most interesting thing about Demchenko’s art is, of course, ‘Cartonage’ technique. Material which is used for it is corrugated carboard, which is cut, painted, glued. And other pieces of paper are glued on it. But it is not what we used to call collage, the main joke is, how inside part of the cardboard is used. İ mean waves inside corrugated cardboard, which from the distance look like stripes of colour. Cartonage pictures are very rich, because of variety of possibilities, its colours, and of course originality. She also creates digital animations and videos for her YouTube channel, featuring corrugated cardboard as the main character.
