Collage: Paper, Black & White, Found Objects, Engraving on Paper.
I AM, Text, Taupe, gray, black, white, words,
I Am, is imbued with a sense of pride as the women
depicted in this work embraces her whole with self-assurance and defiance. Obviously, this is an unusual circumstance, her body is not what we are used to seeing, but aren't we all fairly common and at the same time uniquely ourselves in all our rare splendor? Can we question identity in a world where nothing is stable and humanity is everyday closest to technology that we can even be aware of? Is our humanity measured by what we look like or by how we love? By our knowledge or by our compassion? Who we are is only for us to decide. The title of this artwork is not premeditated, they surface as the work develops or at the end, and is found often in the background text of the vintage book pages glued together and used as the backdrop for the collages.
