About The Artwork
Rich, elegant, and regal, this large, square artwork celebrates violet from the deepest purple to the palest lavender. Coupled with metallic silver, the work is inspired by patchwork quilts to result in a dynamic repetitive pattern that is both dramatic and contemporary. The work is made from a variety of original paintings made especially for it. Once removed from their backing, they are deconstructed and combined with a striking wallpaper. The cut strips are then applied in a collage-like fashion over the canvas. This work is fitted with D rings and wire for immediate hanging. The pattern continues around all sides, therefore, there is no need to frame. On the back, you will find my signature, initials, title, and year. It is registered on the NRAA (National Registry for Australian artists). The work comes with details of the registration and a Certificate of Authenticity.

Artist Statement “When the paint is dry my work is just beginning”. The thought that paint could be capable of independence from the canvas has been the driving force behind Julee’s art practice. It led to her process of creating paintings on plastic waiting for the paint to dry before she removes it. The unsupported material has an inherent flexibility that allows Julee to investigate her interest in textile, collage, and sculptural techniques. Through cutting, layering, moulding, weaving, and gluing, each creation is the result of many hours of meticulous and detailed work. An artist since childhood, Julee holds a BFA (Sculpture and Painting) from Curtin University, Perth. She is also the author of the book Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic (Schiffer Publishing Ltd, USA). Her works can be found in collections, both public and private, worldwide.
