Nature is my inspiration to make art, here are two birds made from paper mache which were developed from my plein air studies, drawings of birds. The tangible aspect of my art help create a story or repeat a story that you've heard. The detail on the bottom is just as important as the top of the sculpture. It is fun to inspect a work of art that is 3D similar to a painting but holding and rotating the sculpture captivates the sense of motion. Birds are a fascinating subject to try and recreate. I enjoy the creative aspect of trying to capture the personality rather than the descriptive species name. Bird bring me joy, love to share that. The materials are re-purposed fabric and paper that I have in my studio and the thread is like a tube of paint, the sewing machine is like the brush, various movement and styles. I had to find something to hold the paper mache base up with and cutlery seemed to do it best.
