About The Artwork
Three dimensional collage/wall sculpture/assemblage. Comprised of three layers of 10mil laminating sheet with paper and metallic fiber inside. Supported by by a structure of stainless steel screws and hardware. Floating throughout are pieces of sculpted papier-mâché, rhinestone costume trim, and a large acrylic chandelier drop. This piece is built around a 30 year old xerox image I recently discovered from my collage days studying fashion design. The copier had a piece of paper stuck inside the mechanism, which created an interesting composition on its own. In creating this piece I tried to reference a melancholy vintage nostalgia of old Hollywood.
