About The Artwork
This mixed media work further develops some of the themes I have explored previously in both digital and mixed media works. The use of still life is a vehicle for studies in surface texture and form. The forms are rendered and carefully placed and I like to think of them as having a spirit of the natural form that they replicate. In this work, a manipulated Mexican fish bowl contains an 'eyeball' developed from a Haeckel anemone pattern. The use of fish and eye images are a nod to surrealist artists.
