ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This portrait is made by using papers out of my 'special paper collection', that contains beautiful colours and textures. The torn papers are attached in a composition on the canvas. Then layer upon layer I paint a face, using acrylic paint and being inspired by the subsurface. Then suddenly a person is looking at me. Telling his or her story. Or is it your story? The collage is 10x10 cm, the frame is handmade of wood and painted 22,5x22,5 cm. Collage and frame are varnished.

This mysterious aspect fascinates me. Afterwards I will tell my own story - in colours and lines - about these people using various visual tools." Showing the reality is not important, it's my personal impression and emotion that I wish to communicate. This is a very intuitive process during which my hand glides on paper or canvas. This way I am able to tell my own story in layers, colours and lines. Afterwards the art is not mine anymore and open to other people's eyes, making new stories as well. I'm always searching for new ways for my art (small to large sizes, different techniques) to travel and show themselves to public.
