ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Monday - Day Colour Series, 2022 - Yellow. Continuing my exploration of colour theory and how colours are involved in our daily lives this series explores tradition and emotion of days and places through colour. Based on Thai, other Eastern cultures and astrology each day of the week has a color of the day. The color is based on the color of the God who protects the day or Navagraha. For example, the God of Sunday is Surya which has the red color associated with it.. These colors of the day are also the traditional Thai birthday colors. For example, King Bhumibol Adulyadej was born on Monday, so on his birthday places in Thailand will be decorated with the colour yellow and often the colour is worn as clothing on that day. The last image is of the seven days of the week from Sunday on the left to Saturday on the right. Please contact the Saatchi Art curating team if you are interested in the whole series. These works are made from colourfast paper mounted on board and in an acid free mount framed in a white stained wooden frame under UV acrylic glazing. D rings and mounting string is supplied.

ARTIST STATEMENT In my artistic journey, precision is not just a method; it's a language, and each cut of paper is a carefully chosen word. My craft is collage, an exploration of vibrant hues and geometric forms, but it's more than arranging shapes and colors; it's a dialogue between architecture, emotion, and personal narrative. In my most recent work, I have been exploring working with paper to create sculpture based narratives. This can been seen in the new Refuge Series made in 2024. Each piece is a deliberate composition, shaped by memories, celebrations, and the intricate dance of colors that guide our emotions. The fusion of geometric abstraction with personal narratives creates a unique visual language, inviting viewers to explore the intersection of precision and emotion within each piece. In my work, I delve into the profound impact of color on our perceptions. Saatchi Art recognized my contribution, selecting me as one of 21 Artists to collect in 2021. The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition welcomed my participation in 2021, and my artistic exploration has left its mark in solo, joint, group exhibitions and art fairs. From the UK to the Americas, Europe, the Far East, and Australia, my creations have found homes, unraveling stories of color, context, and human emotion. Welcome to my world of collages, where every cut tells a story, and every color evokes an emotion.
