ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Created during a residency in the Champagne region of France, in the late summer sun. The use of gold leaf reflects light differently throughout the day, resulting in a constantly changing appearance. This is a meditation on the meaning of "offering"--to the Divine, to the sun, and my act of creating as a form of "offering." It also touches on the complexity of gold throughout history--for the revered and for commerce. 24K gold leaf on watercolor paper and mat board. Framed in a 10" x10" x 1" white frame on white mat.
