*Awarded third place in a juried show in November 2020. She is captured in a serene moment, her time to look within before she faces the demands of another the day. This past year has been challenging for most people. We each deal with daily stress in our own way. This woman is reflecting on where she has been and making peace with what the future holds. The comb shields her eye from what may come. The afro comb shields her eye from what may come. The is a a mixed media collage on stretched canvas. Her hair curls were made by rolling strips of pages from a 1925 dictionary. Her eyes are from a photo of an African mask and a geometric pattern.
