Talking at fields #5 Collage

This piece is made as part of a ritualistic and meditative practice, with the work being the final record of a spiritual state. I am deeply inspired by artists who draw from spiritual, and emotional states when painting. Artists such as Kandinsky, Russolo, Twombly, and Miro. I am inspired by my meditation practice which informs everything I make. I am drawn to images that have a sense of being about them. I attempt to make pieces that have embedded in them the intensity of the of the moment of their making. I hope the works take on a being of their own. That they have a soul and presence. I started working with embroidery during the early days of the pandemic lockdown as a way to explore making work over a longer period of time with more labor intensive processes. The constant stitching feels like a way to charge the image with energy.
