“The Giant’s New Garden” Once upon a time, in a world not unlike our own, there lived a gentle giant who loved nothing more than to tend to his garden. However, his love for greenery was so vast that a regular plot of land could no longer contain it. One day, he set out to find a garden grand enough for his passion. He wandered through valleys and over mountains until he found the perfect spot—a lush expanse where rivers snaked like tendrils and trees whispered secrets of growth. With his colossal rake in hand, the giant began to tend this new garden with tender care. As days turned into seasons, the giant’s touch transformed the landscape. Where once were wild underbrush and unruly weeds, now there were rows of emerald greenery and blooms that touched the sky. The rivers flowed clearer from his careful grooming, and even the mountains seemed to lean in closer to listen to his humming tune. The animals of the forest watched in awe as their home became a masterpiece of natural beauty. They realized that sometimes, even giants with their heads above the clouds have dreams that are deeply rooted in the earth. And so it was that the giant gardened happily ever after, creating life with every sweep of his mighty rake—his heart as full as the endless green beneath him.

Martine Mooijenkind, also known as Knutseltroep, is a self-taught collage artist and graphic designer from Gouda, The Netherlands. She creates surreal collages using vintage materials and digital techniques. She also works as a care attendant for the disabled . Her artworks have been published in various magazines and online platforms. Mooijenkind started making collages in 2010, when she discovered a box of old magazines in her attic. She soon developed her own style, combining elements from different sources and eras to create surreal scenes and characters. Mooijenkind uses both analog and digital methods to create her collages. She often scans her cut-outs and edits them on Photoshop, adding filters, textures and effects to enhance the mood and atmosphere of her works. She sometimes incorporates her own drawings and photographs into her collages, creating a personal touch. Mooijenkind draws inspiration from various sources, such as music, literature, cinema, nature and dreams. She is influenced by artists such as Hannah Höch, Max Ernst, and Salvador Dali.
