Art Description

Collage: Paper, Photo, Acrylic, Ballpoint Pen and Graphite on Paper.

This was another aircraft I photographed in the aircraft graveyard in Tuscon, AZ during a road trip. This particular detail of the plane, the fuel tank suspended from the wing, serves in this piece as protection of our way of life during the Cold War. Americans were able to go about their normal lives while our military was building to unprecedented levels to stay one step ahead of the Russians.

Unframed on masonite, offset from wall 2" on wood runners.

Keywords: protection, bomb, ephemera, children, airplane, comics, Cold war, Soviet Union, Dinner Party, red scare, fuel tank
