On one hand, the viewer sees the masked characters as less human, on the other hand the masked character feel more free to be human. Because time is stopped in a collage, those faces are inanimate masks to the viewer. I consider the presentation of ecstasy on faces as one of the most fascinating subject matters. I want the viewers to witness a moment when the protagonist of the collages loose control and a higher level of freedom is experienced. The characters of the collages are refusing to follow their imposed social and cultural norms. They crawl on each others backs and spin with hula hoops while their faces deform and become unrecognizable. This collage is a limited edition of 10. The company I am working with to produce my prints uses a dye sublimation method that infuses dye into the surface of aluminum prints, for an archival quality photograph that will last. The dye particles are completely enclosed within the coating, giving a print that is waterproof and scratch and UV resistant.
