ABOUT THE ARTWORK
My inspiration as an artist is based on couture which has made me create a unique technique that I define as "Couture on canvas" re interpreting the canvas as a mannequin using textiles, embroidery and rhinestones. I'm from Colombia and religion is an important part of our culture, specially Mary. This particular piece was made to honor her. I grew up with the classic image of her and it was time to "modernize" her, put her some make up on and adorn her with a beautiful golden mantle of Swarovski crystals and appliqués embroidered on the cotton canvas. Hanging hardware is included.
