In "Ephemeral Blossoms," I embark on a visual journey through the intricate tapestry of Japanese women's lives in the 19th century, presenting a nuanced exploration of their history, culture, and daily existence. Through the modern lens of transferring historical photographs onto canvas, employing both photo-collage and painting techniques, I aim to breathe contemporary life into the images of these women, capturing the essence of their fleeting moments. This collection serves as a tribute to the timeless beauty and resilience of Japanese women during a pivotal era. The title, "Ephemeral Blossoms," reflects the delicate nature of existence, much like the fleeting cherry blossoms that symbolize the transience of life in Japanese culture. The imagery on the canvas becomes a visual metaphor for the ephemeral but impactful stories of these women.
