This lake among the mountains gives us a breath of freshness and peace. I usually choose wildlife as a theme for inspiration. The silence is broken only by the whistle of the mountain wind and the sound of small waves of the lake.

Grygoriy Papikyan is a contemporary Ukrainian and Dutch artist who paints in a romantic style using his original painting technique, using mainly acrylic or oil paint and traditional canvas as the source material. He also uses oil pastels in some of his works. Grygoriy draws inspiration mainly from wild nature. These include mountain landscapes, sea coasts, forests, canyons, lakes or clearings. His paintings are painted with bright and combined shades of colors and radiate optimism. Grygoriy showed interest and desire for art from childhood. All his life he remembered the enchanting aroma of oil paints in small tubes when he was only 5 years old and these paints were given to him by his parents for painting. Painting, photography and music became his passion from a young age. He created his small laboratory (as he liked to call it) in the basement of his house, where he, listening to contemporary music of famous groups, partially banned in those days in the USSR, was engaged in editing and printing photographic images. These were mostly black and white photographs (color ones were just beginning to appear). Grygoriy eventually became interested in Japanese and Chinese culture. These include tea ceremonies (everyday tea drinking), the art of organizing interiors in a restrained Japanese style, organizing plants and flowers, Chinese gymnastics, Japanese judo and more. In painting, Grygoriy was inspired by such great masters as Van Gogh, Manet, Sesame and some representatives of the movement of impressionism and post-impressionism. After moving from Ukraine to the Netherlands, Grygoriy continued to paint with new enthusiasm, inspired by the unique Dutch nature and silence. In his paintings, he depicts the world in bright and optimistic colors, calling for good deeds, love, tolerance and peace.
