ABOUT THE ARTWORK

As an artist, I’m always buying brushes and yet it’s the old favourites I go to first when I start a new painting. Like alot of people I have a favourite camera I prefer to use or a gadget I use in the kitchen. When I was at art college I was heavily influenced by the work of Jasper Johns and Jim Dine. It was where pop art imagery and abstract expressionist brush strokes clashed. I'm just carrying on this tradition. These giclée prints use 12 pigment inks on 100% cotton rag paper 310gsm. It will be signed, numbered and include a certificate of authenticity. It is printed on A2(42x59.4cm) size paper . I package the prints up myself in a strong card tube, covered in acid free tissue paper, along with a certificate of authenticity and a thankyou note. In addition, you'll get an English Breakfast teabag as my way of saying thankyou 😊 I hope you enjoy my work as much as I did, making it. By the way, the artwork used for the Saatchi open edition prints has been adjusted to 16"x24" to avoid any cropping.

I went to art college back in the 1970s, where I received a BA 1st (Hons) in Fine Art before completing an MA at the Royal College of Art in the film school. I then worked in film and video production and finally the education sector before early retirement. My main influences are the artists being talked about in the 1970s, such as Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg and Jim Dine. The New York scene seemed to combine and challenge what art, performance and film could be in a way that has left a permanent mark on my psyche. This cocktail of Pop Art imagery and Abstract Expressionist mark-making seems to be where I feel most comfortable. The imagery I refer to in my work is autobiographical and has a backstory which is both personal and yet familiar to us all. It is where everyday objects seem to mean a lot.
