In the Re-Orientalism series, I embark on a creative exploration that transcends temporal boundaries, capturing the essence of life, tradition, and customs in Arab countries during the 19th century. Through the innovative lens of digital decoupage techniques, I seek to reimagine and reinterpret historical narratives with a distinctly modern and contemporary vision. The term "Re-Orientalism" serves as a nod to the Orientalist movement of the past but with a conscious departure from the exoticism and stereotypes that often characterized those depictions. Instead, my work strives to present a more nuanced and authentic portrayal of the people, traditions, and customs of the 19th-century Arab world. Digital decoupage becomes a transformative tool in my artistic process, allowing me to layer historical imagery with a contemporary aesthetic. This technique enables me to peel back the layers of time, revealing the vibrancy and diversity of a culture that has evolved through the centuries.
