About the Artist

Aleks Rosenberg

United States

My artistic practice is rooted in a lifelong experience of observing the world from the outside. Having grown up between different countries and cultures, I rarely felt a complete sense of belonging. Instead, I developed the perspective of an attentive observer, someone looking in rather than fully participating. This position continues to shape the way I approach my work, where making art becomes a means of understanding the complexities, contradictions and quiet beauty of the world around me.
Curiosity, experimentation and the constant search for new ways of understanding the relationship between ideas, materials and perception drive every project I undertake. Rather than following a fixed methodology, I approach each work as an open investigation in which intuition and deliberate decision-making coexist. Every project begins with a question rather than a predetermined outcome, allowing the process itself to shape the final work.
I am particularly interested in the tension between control and unpredictability. Materials often reveal possibilities that were not initially apparent, and I embrace those moments when unexpected discoveries redirect the work. Some ideas remain with me for years before finding their appropriate form, while others emerge almost instinctively. In both cases, making becomes a process of observation, adaptation, and continuous refinement, where chance is welcomed as an essential collaborator rather than an obstacle.
Working primarily with found and repurposed materials, I create layered compositions that transform familiar objects into new visual narratives. Each decision informs the next, allowing the work to evolve beyond its original conception while remaining faithful to its conceptual core. This capacity for transformation reflects my belief that meaning is never fixed but continually shaped through relationships between materials, memories, and perception.
Ultimately, my work explores transformation, ambiguity and the fragile balance between darkness and hope. Rather than offering definitive conclusions, I seek to create works that encourage contemplation, invite multiple interpretations and place the viewer in the role of an observer, discovering meaning through their own experience. My practice is driven by the belief that even within uncertainty there is always the possibility of connection, renewal and unexpected beauty.
