About The Artwork

Acrylic painting on heavyweight fine-art paper, matted, ready to frame. Minimal but colorful well-balanced composition, inspired by constructivism, the Bauhaus, Memphis Group. Size of the work: A4 - 21 X 29.7 cm // 8¼ X 11¼ inches. Size of the mat: 30 X 40 cm // 11¼ X 15¼ inches. This is a one-of-a-kind handmade artwork. Commissions for comparable compositions are welcome. - I want more than to please the eye. I am interested in the strength of structures, in the energy of colors. And in how I can put them working together to arouse feelings and emotions. -

Guy Cardon is a visual artist living and working in Brussels. He was educated at the St Luke School of Art in Brussels where he studied drawing, painting, and interior design. His work can be found in private and corporate collections. - I am inspired by more than a century of modern art, from Bauhaus to Hard Edge, from constructivism to minimalism, from Mondrian to Color Field Painting. - Playing with shapes and colors is a great pleasure, but also more than that. The act of painting has a spiritual dimension. And I am always very grateful when in one way or another my work touches the interiority of the viewer. - I like balance and simplicity. My compositions are utopian attempts to offset the chaos surrounding us... and maybe also to tame the inner chaos! - I want more than to please the eye. I am interested in the strength of structures, in the energy of colors. And in how I can put them working together to arouse feelings and emotions.
