About The Artwork

The work is part of the series "Calendar of traces" that documents time and location through the collection of shapes and textures. Traces are documentation samples created with the method of frottage, a way of capturing an element's shape or texture with the application of wax crayon or graphite on paper. The traces on "27/07/2014. The Muddy Pig bar blueprint drawing" were taken from surfaces of the “The Muddy Pig” bar in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The bar's old fashioned booths, one of its wooden surfaces, a metallic sign featuring the bar's mascot are some of the location's elements documented in the work. "Calendar of traces" is ongoing work, part of the project "Metamorphosis/USA". The project is unfolding in real time during a three month journey across the United States, July-October 2014. More information on the project can be found at http://www.vlassopoulou.com/calendar-of-traces.html Note: The 11x14 inches print format reproduces the work in its original dimensions. In all three formats available, the white border is slightly larger than the default 3 inch border provided by Saatchi, in order for the work to maintain its original proportions and, in the case of the 11x14 print, its exact size (9.5x13 in).
