About The Artwork
This is the first of a series of drawings I am making on Tyvek paper- 36 inches by 60 inches. The mums I have used are paint pens, chalk pens and gouache on their indestructible paper. This huge drawing is inspired by drawings from my many sketchbooks I created while at the San Francisco Art Institute in the 1980s. My large collection of sketchbooks during that time served as a diary/journal of personal life while documenting my journey as an artist. I discovered Tyvek paper while getting my BFA at The San Francisco Art Institute. It is usually used to wrap houses and protect buildings while they are being built. Tyvek paper is indestructible and represents me. The back of this paper says TYVEK in bold letters. You can staple it and manipulate it. It holds up. My art style is raw and funky and I am heavily influenced by outsider and children's art. To the lucky buyer of this work- the huge drawing will be mailed in a tube. I have signed the bottom. I have purposely added a digital watermark on the images for privacy. Thank you for looking!

Born USA. I started making art at the age of 21. I was admitted on the spot to the San Francisco Art Institute upon showing the Dean of Admissions my portfolio of Thurberesque Drawings with funny captions. Much of my artistic inspiration from my flea market finds ( vintage & rare ephemera), my huge unusual vintage, children's book collection, dance & burlesque performances, icons, symbols and images from all kinds of religions and my exploration into personal relationships. Although I have a distinctive style, I have explored many mediums- collage, painting, drawing, print making & fabric design, digital art. Some of my work is pretty and decorative but I also create ugly & raw paintings. These self therapy paintings are meant to be ugly and humourous . Kitsch, fashion, phtography, film, Children's art, German expressionism, Matisse, Dufy, Nolde, Redon as well as unknown outsider & folk+ art brut artists are have contributed to my style.
