Paintings Limited Edition Prints Pen Drawings About Me Contact HOME I am an artist based in the south of France. My paintings interplay between traditional and modern, and amalgamate diverse cultural elements brought together from a life lived in transition. Originally from Singapore, I have lived Canada, the US, London, Dubai, Malta, Budapest and now, France. An expatriate for over 25 years, my experiences in navigating multiple cultures and social environments provided the inspiration for my paintings and pen drawings of my travels. While the blending and coalescing of diverse cultural identities can be enriching and invaluable in today’s interconnected world, it also presents questions of belonging and acceptance. This dynamic can create a sense of dual belonging, or dual alienation; immersion or isolation. I sometimes find myself at home everywhere, while other times feel I belong nowhere. This oscillation between integration and ‘otherness’ describes the expatriate journey and it is through this unique lens that I examine, through my artwork, questions of self, identity, community, human adaptability and where home is.
