Jan Henning was born in a small university town in South Africa close to Johannesburg. His grandfather saw his talents from an early age and urged in him to practice art. Unfortunately he was never able to study art full time and needed to do short courses where possible. He aims to study identity through his art. Although he mostly does architecture and city scapes, the art desires to involve human connection and human relationships. He struggles with his own relationships, work environment and human perceptions, which questions and struggles is reflected in his art themes.
