About The Artwork
"All One Many Names"- ink on plastic, 1600 tiles. There are over 5,000 portraits featured in this piece. The portraits are line drawings of people from all over the world, all walks of life. They are inspired by my early love of National Geographic magazines/documentaries, where I had my first glimpses of the experience that we are all more similar than different. This project was initiated by a powerful dream I had in my early 20's, a dream of all of humanity receiving a great blessing and rising together. Each tile is being sold separately here mounted on a piece of the larger backing and screws used from the original piece. The tile itself is about one and a half inches by two inches. Each tile has the words " May all beings enjoy happiness and the root of happiness. May all beings be free from suffering and the root of suffering" That was my mantra, my prayer throughout the project. This project was featured and awarded a grant for the 2016 Art Prize in Grand Rapids MI. I will keep track of where all the pieces land and create a map of where 1600 are.

H. Ward is an artist living and working in Asheville NC. Family, education, and creating have played the most central roles in her life. She has been painting and showing work since 1995. She designs and crafts under the name Star House and creates clay works under the name Be Heart. Her creations can be found in homes and collections nationally and internationally. She is a mediator. Creating is a presence based extension of her mediation. Heather enjoys wearing aprons, running in the woods, watching things grow, and laughing.
