In my area, the famous river Peene, further up accumulating to the broad Peenestrom at the Baltic sea with the historical heavyweight Peenemünde at its mouth (where in dark times the Wernher von Brauns military rockets were developed), is just a network of streams and ditches. And before they become the true and one Peene, they connect to different smal rivers of the same name, Peene, like the one with the anchoring place presented here. When I jump across the ditches, walk across a wooden board serving as a bridge, or cycle along the river’s bank, the feeling of peace and security is resulting from closeness to nature and origins—but from distance to history, too. Finally, anchoring points invite to stop, contemplate, and overthink. A work from just a couple of feet away from the anchoring, "Boat Rest with Signs of Change", is to be found here at Saatchi's, too. The drawing comes with a passe-partout imperfectly cut by the author himself.

Christian Kabuß is an internationally established German artist and musician. He studied Medicine at the University of Rostock, then went on to Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee, Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia and Moholy-Nagy University of Arts and Design Budapest to practice Fine Art. The artistic language within his paintings is deeply linked to a phenomenological approach to bodiliness, the freedom of subconscious artistic creation, and the theoretical and practical considerations of Design. Kabuß has exhibited in Germany and abroad. His works are present in regional, national and international collections. It is his aim to work as honest as possible, and he tends towards imagery, which is embedded in Lebenswelt, and sound. As a pianist, he performs small intimate concerts. His music is soft, sometimes freely improvised and portrays a sense of a parallel-world. Exhibitions in Italy, Sweden, Germany, China, and Japan.
