Ava's Glance Drawing

Having previously stumbled across a rather beautiful photograph of Audrey Hepburn which I decided to draw, the next 1940s starlet I wanted to draw was my Father's favourite, Ava Gardner. I settled on this picture primarily because of the stance she is posed in. Suggestive yet elegant, with a look to make men (and women!) swoon at 100 paces. I loved drawing this piece and have stared at it for hours. It is truly mesmerising. I know that anyone who purchases a print of this will be over the moon with it, because you too will be mesmerised. This piece was drawn on ClaireFontaine Pastelmat cotton paper, and is of archival quality. Charcoal has been my preferred medium for many years now. I love the deep blacks and contrasts you get with it, as well as the ability to blend and shade with brushes that you simply can't do with pencil. It suits me well and hopefully you think the quality of my work reflects that.
