This artwork was inspired by the Aztec calendar design. It has been executed in black ink and accented with 24 karat gold leaf to symbolize the Aztec's love for the sun. The gold circles in each of the corners represents the rising sun starting from the bottom left and moving in a clockwise direction.

Terri Smith (formerly Kelleher) was born in the USA, but moved to Ireland in 1994 where she currently works as a freelance illustrator/artist. She has been illustrating children's books since 2012 and has illustrated +/- 50 books. In 2014, she received the Kuykendall Image Award for Excellence in Illustration for her work in Nancy Scalabroni's book, "Couga Monga Minga Man." Terri also creates work for exhibition and privately commissioned pieces.
