Music is an emotional diary. Listen to a song and it takes you instantly back to that place when you used to hear it all the time. David Gray's music recorded a very serious time in my life when my son was an 18 year old Marine, stationed as a frontline machine gunner overseas. The soldiers could not have contact with their families at this time so my only link to him was to follow the embedded news reporters with his unit. There was a period of time when I could not find his reporter or his unit in the news for many days. This song, Babylon, was playing at a local music store and I was so drawn to it that I purchased the CD and brought it home, listening to it over and over again. It gave me comfort some how. Later that week, I learned that my son was in Babylon.
Perhaps there really is a Universal Mind?

In addition to capturing the likeness and expression, creating bold shadows of shapes with many alternating layers of graphite, watercolor paints, and charcoal powders is important to me. This piece was influenced by the tonal and detailed qualities of an Andrew Wyeth painting.

This drawing is mounted on a wood panel and finished with an archival satin varnish providing a contemporary allure in a format that is protected and ready to hang. No glass or glare separates you from the image.

Linda Klein, a nature-loving artist hailing from the Bay Area, California, embarks on a soulful journey that harmonizes realism and abstract expression. Unveiling her artistic flair in preschool, Linda's earliest creative adventures prompted her parents to enroll her in local art classes—a bid to save their home from toddler graffiti and nurture her burgeoning talent. Nestled in the wild beauty of West Marin since 2019, Linda draws inspiration from her surroundings. Her artistic evolution mirrors the diverse landscapes she calls home—ranging from detailed graphite drawings to vibrant, ecologically themed pieces infused with recycled collage elements. Linda's unique process involves mounting watercolor paper onto handcrafted wood panels which are often created by her equally talented woodworking husband. This technique imposes a modern eco-conscious approach that bypasses traditional framing. Linda's art is a personal reflection, resonating with the rhythms of nature. With an unwavering commitment to continuing her creative education and a dance between documentation and new realities, Linda Klein's journey is a deeply personal ode to the beauty of our planet. Art Studio tours are offered daily in the artist's San Anselmo, California home.
