Sarah Helen Dowse was born in Durham, UK, and has lived and worked in the Scottish Borders since 1976 after studying Fine Art at Falmouth School of Art in Cornwall. Having postponed her artistic career to raise three children, she has since gained a BA (Hons) Humanities with Art History through the Open University and is now painting again. Working mainly in pastel on paper, she specialises in shoe 'portraits'.
