ABOUT THE ARTWORK
A view of the River Dee in the spring of 2021. The sun was shining, the buds were just begining sprout and life itself resuming. The medium is pencil and graphite wash. Graphite wash is black graphite powder suspended in a medium, in this case PVA glue and water. This is painted on in combination with pencil line. The technique allows for rapid blocking in of shadows, contributing to speed, subtlety, and intensity of execution and resulting in immaculate silvery greys.
