Bedouin Drawing

I was overjoyed with the willingness of this fellow to allow me to do his portrait. He was so impressed with my collection of papyrus paper. I think that had something to do with it. The sun was beating down, but like so many others in this part of the world (Egypt) he was and looked so comfortable in his Jabaleya and head scarf. That evening I bought the entire wardrobe for myself and started wearing it throughout the rest of my trip in the Middle East. One fellow in Istanbul said when I got off the bus, "I like your style!" I loved this subject's style and his patience with me as I worked on capturing him on the paper he was so impressed by. I offered the portrait to him and he waved me off. Bedouins are culturally so freed from "stuff." Now it can be yours due to his generosity of spirit.
