Drawing: Charcoal on Paper.
Charcoal drawing from the Black & White Grid Drawing series.
The Black and White Grid Drawings are a continued investigation of the grid structure. Along with my Grid Drawing series and Grid Painting series these new drawings further examine my relationship with the grid.
What began as an exploration of color, surface and mark making with a textile design influence, transitioned into these much more loose and simple group of drawings. Once I allowed the works to take on a life of their own, they began to speak a new language that allowed the grid to play with the page and tear down the literal and non-literal boundaries that previously existed. That fun and playful dance of line continues here more predominantly than in any of the previous works.
This charcoal on paper piece is 40x26 horizontal.
The paper is 100% acid-free heavyweight archival paper.
This piece is not framed.
