This piece belongs to a series called “Citadina”. These drawings stem from a personal exploration of the uncircumspect elements that occupy the urban landscape of Santo Domingo. I play with perspectives, planes, light, shadow, scale and the layout of architectural elements in unusual placements. The tensions and harmonies between the objects and people of this particular city were my main focus.

I am a caribbean artist and architect born and raised in Gazcue, a centenary neighborhood once known for its lavish gardens and playfully designed houses. The gradual decay of Gazcue and its eccentric Art Deco architecture has always been impactful for me. In my art, i reconfigure the images absorbed throughout the years in an attempt to find some peace through that which i control, even if it's just an imaginary affair.
