In fact, with almost no residents, it's not really a city at all but rather a so-called phantom city -- a tax shelter for many industries which no one would tolerate within a city with residents. It's also home to a lot of restaurants and a McDonald's used only for filming commercials and the occasional, terrible film like "Mac & Me."

Eric Brightwell is an adventurer, explorer, cartographer, guerilla gardener, and writer... Eric Brightwell was born in Iowa City, Iowa but primarily raised in Lexington, Kentucky and Columbia, Missouri. Inspired by fantasy maps and text adventure computer games, he began drawing maps when he was about nine years old. He studied film theory at the University of Iowa where he made a point of visiting every block of every street in the city and its suburbs. After moving to Los Angeles in 1999, he began exploring and drawing maps again, beginning with a map of Elysian Park.
