Jill Jeannides was born in Chicago, Illinois. In 2000, Jill earned her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has done additional studies in Chautauqua, New York, Aix-en-Provence, France, and Los Angeles, California. Jeannides is interested in culture’s relationship to globalization. “Globalization’s vast distances are ignored at the grocery store and highlighted at ports and airports.” Jill is drawn to hot spots of global interchange. She creates visually dynamic and complex images that acknowledge the chain of events present in globalization. Jill’s expressive mark making applies paint constructively. Cultural observation, dynamic imagery, interaction of color and hand eye coordination are fundamentals in her process. In 2007, Jill’s video work was showcased at the Whitney Museum at Altria in New York City. In 2008, sixteen of Jill’s paintings and prints were exhibited at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. In 2011 Jill’s work is currently installed in the Office of the Mayor of Chicago.
