"Dichotomy" is an exploration of the inherent dualities that define the human condition—the space where opposing forces, such as connection and separation, harmony and conflict, exist as one. My name is Alina Codin, and I am a visual artist dedicated to exploring the dual nature of reality: the connection between past and present, between the simple and the complex, between the inner self and the external one. My works range from minimalist, hand-drawn pieces that explore the power and sincerity of a line, to physical and digital collages and complex creations, rich in texture and color, that capture the visual chaos of the contemporary world. A central aspect of my artistic practice is the representation of the social masks we wear daily. In my drawings and collages, I deconstruct the complexity of identity and the roles we play in the "jungle" of contemporary civilization. This duality is a reflection on how we adapt and transform ourselves to survive in daily interactions. By juxtaposing disparate elements and using different mediums, I aim to offer the public a complex visual experience that invites both a smile and deep introspection on the self and our place in society. I use a cubist/surrealistic style to allow the viewer to build their own story, to discover the narratives encrypted within the symbols.
