Mixed media on paper Quizás no haya nada más mítico que esas vacaciones de verano que vivimos de niños... ¿o no? Parece como si esos estíos pasados, más o menos borrosos, tuvieran el poder de hacer palidecer el resto de veranos de nuestras vidas. En los cuadros de la serie “El verano invisible” niños, adultos y familias se nos muestran espontáneos, absolutamente inmersos en sus actividades vacacionales. Sin embargo las imágenes se alejan de la representación fotográfica, más bien parecen pasadas por el tamiz de la mirada adulta que intenta hacer memoria. Las sensaciones, las fotografías de la infancia, las historias que escuchamos sobre nuestra biografía, así como la influencia de lo que se supone debe ser un verano para un niño … todo esto está aquí, y también algo más. Estos veranos nos invitan no sólo al recuerdo y a la reflexión sobre la construcción de la memoria y por ende de la identidad, inevitablemente su peso nos evidencia el abismo de la existencia y el devenir.

Pilar López Báez was born in Madrid in September 1981. She studied Art History and Fine Arts, graduating in both degrees by the Complutense University in Madrid and the Felipe II University in Aranjuez, respectively. She completed her education with a course of graphic design at the Cice Advanced Studies Center in Madrid. She has received several grands in Spanish geography and has been invited to participate in other European scholarships. She has participated in galleries all around Spain and abroad, she made several solo exhibitions in galleries such as Espacio 36 in Zamora, or Octógono in Avilés, both in Spain. She has been invited to exhibit in institutional halls and art academies. Her artistic work has been awarded several times in Spanish competitions, such as “Camarote Madrid” in Leon. She has been finalist in many national e international competitions. Her work can be found in private collections in Spain, Italy and United States. Currently, she lives and works in Aranjuez, combining her work as a painter with her work as a child illustrator.
