Most of the mutineers of the 21st Native Infantry stationed in Karachi, who revolted on September 14, 1857, were executed in a ground where the Empress Market stands today. Governor of Bombay, James Ferguson laid the foundation stone of the present market in 1884 and it was inaugurated in 1889. Sketch drawn on pastel sheet and using 0.1 mm and 0.2 mm Rotring Rapidos and Rotring Black Ink. Saved in temporary framing with glass.
