About The Artwork

Exploring the medium of graphite whilst still representing my interest in the intricacy of flora and fauna, the Flight Path collection is the result of a large wasp nest in the loft and the shadows captured on the windowsill. Working with a mix of graphite powder and pencils, erasing, frottage and embossing until the right balance of light and dark remains, an image which draws you closer to discover the delicacy of the insects. Wasps are an important part of our eco system: eating greenfly larva and dead insects, they are also great pollinators. Sadly their teenage tantrums in summer have given them bad press. Look closer - they are exquisitely put together. Flight Path iii - simply explores the structure of wasps, the way they fall and capture the light. The tactile velvet finish contrasts with the intense pain of a wasp sting.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Entranced by the cycle of growth and decay, Louisa captures the details on beautiful smooth Strathmore bristol board using ultra sharp pencils and graphite powder. It’s quiet in the studio, distanced from the world as she looks ever closer at plants, insects and birds. Texture, shadows, silhouettes and movement created with marks and tone, it’s rarely about the colour.
