Four Fold Rocking ( 4 sheets ) Drawing

The work stems from my interest in the importance of behavioral patterns from childhood, from fears of aging, from trauma of depression and insecurities of identity. In childhood I exhibited behaviours that reflected feelings of terror and of longing for spiritual comfort.The idea I wished to address relates to some notorious or possibly deviant behaviors in childhood, behaviors that may follow a person for his or her entire life. More specifically, in this case I refer to repetitive comforting behavior such as rocking. The pieces illustrate the mood of alienation and express the body language peculiar to this particular behavior. The lack of background and color heightens the sense of isolation. Painting on transparencies and arranging them in transposition brings an element of 3-dimensionality and isolation to the back and forth movements of rocking. The escape into an inner world of rocking provides both isolation from and solace against outer world of confusion and pain. The 4-part piece won 4th International Award of Lorenzo Medici in 2011 Florence Biennale.
