ABOUT THE ARTWORK

12.6 x 16.8 cm | 5 x 6.6 in Unique Artwork | 2021 Graphite and watercolor pencils on inkjet printed rough 140gr/m² book printing paper. A light that has a dark quality - this is how Eduardo Chillida refers to his beloved country, the Basque Country. Being from Portugal and living in Berlin, Germany I feel naturally connected to this state of mind. In my opinion, the light he described so clearly is not necessarily sad, but rather serene and invites a deep state of inner reflection. The artwork is signed and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Alexandre Liberato is a Portuguese visual artist based in Berlin whose work spans a wide range of media, including painting, drawing, photography, and video. He holds a degree in Architecture from the Technical University of Lisbon, 2005, and attended CREART - Artistic and Creative Research Labs in Barcelona, 2017. His work has been exhibited internationally in Berlin at KINDL - Center for Contemporary Art, Gallery Heike Arndt DK, Hošek Contemporary, 48 Stunden Neukölln Festival, and Projektraum 145; in Barcelona at Espacio 88; as well as at the Thessaloniki Queer Art Online Festival. In 2019, KONVENT.ZERO, Berga, Barcelona selected Alexandre for its artist-in-residence program. Alexandre Liberato’s project focuses on geometry, the body, and the creation of an abstract metaphysical space to contemplate the sublime- a sensibility that touches everyone equally, transforming them from the inside. The conscious emancipation he seeks in the entire spectrum of his work is not limited to LGBTQ+ people but aims to emancipate masculinity from toxic old ideas of the past.
