"Ganz Andere" is focused on the concept of Hierophany, sacred’s revelation in a profane world. Its title refers to Rudolf Otto’s term that describes a deity and objects through which it is exposed. Entering into a dispute with secular views, the artwork proposes engagement into a mystical manifestation of Grace and proposes to place this experience in the centre of the phenomenology of religion.
The artwork is visually inspired by Edward Hopper, Francis Bacon and Christian iconography, as well as noir films' aesthetics. It combines traditional symbolism with postmodernist visual forms, inheriting and developing the practice of Moscow Conceptualist school.
