Halong Bay # 7 : Cloud Dragons Drawing

In the drawing process of this piece, I saw seals, a lot of seals. The vapour of the bay, water, limestone and foliage makes layers of mist then the gentle heat of the morning raise them and turns them into clouds. Looking at the cloud, I saw a dragon in the clouds that puffs the mist all over the place. It lives in the bay all the time. Looking at the face, the claws and body structure, it must be very old. A little house and a little boat were included to show the real scale and to show how big the dragon really is. A very big and scary dragon. Looking down, I saw many dragon sleeping in the sea under the blanket of mist. After all, it's Vịnh Hạ Long, the bay of (a) descending dragon(s). I got to get used to it. To me, it's a bit of an adventure of what I can discover during the drawing process. Seriously, this, I think, represents a portrait of what traditionally in the mind of the Viet people for thousands of years before countries on the continent were formed. Land dragons, sea dragons and sky dragons.. I used to think it's a bit much but now I am glad to see the illustration of the concept. Drawing this series, I absorb some of the concept of dragon in the eyes of Asia. With my drawing, I hope to pass on this traditional look to the next and the next .. super busy and AI loaded generations. A loop between naturally primitive and artificially sophistication. It was and would be fun.
